Teaching Turkish to Foreigners Education Sets
Turkish Education Directorate conducts various R&D projects, develops projects and launches works aimed at various target groups with its expert team in order to meet the requirements of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, to prepare quality materials for people working in the field, to get ahead standards in language instruction and to present innovative studies. In this context, printed, visual and audio language instruction instruments such as textbooks, workbooks, teacher's guidebooks, supplemental reading books, illustrated dictionaries, Z-books based on criteria of "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages” and principles of teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, are prepared.
Tools for teaching Turkish as a foreign language, are designed based on foreign language learning levels of of different age groups and by considering factors that facilitate learning.
Turkish education sets are prepared for 3 different age groups.
- Turkish for Children (FIT) Set: consists of 4 textbooks and 4 teacher books and listening CDs for target group of 6 - 9 years old.
- I am Learning Turkish Set: consists of 4 textbooks and 4 workbooks and listening CDs for target group of 10-15 years old.
- Seven Climate Turkish Set: consists of 6 textbooks, 6 workbooks and 6 teacher books and listening CDs for target group of adults over 15 years.
1. Turkish Set for Children (ÇİT)
"Turkish for Children (ÇİT) Set" textbooks prepared by a commission of Turkish instructors working in Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centres and field experts, consist of teacher guidebooks, songs and listening records. The books cover the skills acquired at A1 level. "Turkish Set for Children (ÇİT)" is prepared for target groups between ages 6-9 to learn Turkish. It is thought Turkish for Children (ÇİT) set will cater to source needs of all children who aspire to learn Turkish as a foreign language, especially Syrian children under temporary protection in Turkey, and teachers.
2. I am Learning Turkish Set
"I am Learning Turkish Set" prepared by Turkish Education Directorate, consists of textbook, workbook, listening booklet and listening CD. Each of the 4 books in the set, are designed for secondary education from 1st to 4th grades. The books cover the skills acquired at A1 and A2 levels. The first and second books in the set are for A1, the third and fourth books are for A2 levels. These are prepared for target groups between ages 10-15. Books are taught in countries where Turkish is taught as an elective or mandatory second foreign language, in Enstitü's Turkish Cultural Centres (for children groups) and in courses organized for children in Turkey for various reasons. "Turkish Learning Set" features a Turkish-Arabic dictionary at the end, aimed at Syrian children who receive education in Turkey.
3. Yedi İklim (Seven Climate) Turkish Set
"Yedi İklim Turkish Set" prepared by Turkish Education Directorate consists of 30 materials, including a textbook, a workbook, a teacher's guidebook, a listening booklet and a listening CD for each level. Each of the 6 textbooks in the set, cover the skills acquired at f A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1, C2 levels as established in the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages." In Yedi İklim Turkish Instruction Set, texts and images are selected in a way to cater to adults' needs in learning Turkish as a foreign language. Turkish lessons are taught with Yedi İklim Turkish Set” in Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Turkish Cultural Centres, in Turcology departments of collaborated universities and in many shareholder Turkish instruction centres in Turkey.
